Where, oh where, has our little Bon gone?

Where, oh where could she be?

Knitting and crocheting, of course!  Well, maybe not of course, but for sure.   I think I mentioned a road trip we took back in March to Amelia where my friend Carrie got me 'hooked' on crocheting again.  Well, it's all been downhill from there.  Not really.  Not downhill at all, but I have become obsessed, as I am apt to do, with my re-newly-found hobbies, and spend every spare second knitting or crocheting.  Sometimes both.   I love to mix and match and switch around, and keep a good 10-15 projects going all the time.

This week, I just finished a neat Japanese crocheted handbag I've been working on for awhile, and I'm so excited about it.

I call it 'finished' because I'm done crocheting, but I still have the daunting (for me) task of lining it.  I have my fabric picked out, and am ready to go, except that my sewing is more of an 'organic' process, and it is always a little more free flowing than making and following a pattern and cutting it out.  Also, while I own a sewing machine, it's about 55 years old, and such a bear to lug out of storage, that I often just 'wing it' and stitch by hand.  Not too consistent with that (again with the free-flowing strategy).  Soooo, I need to wait until I have lots of time (rarely), patience (not often), and peace and quiet (HA!) before I tackle that part of the project.  For now, let's just enjoy the outside of my bag, shall we?

Happy 4th of July!

We spent the day hanging out with Ian, Barb, Chris and Phyllis at their pool (check out the awesome waterslide!) and then at their house grilling some burgers and watching Shaun the Sheep.  I have to say this is one of the best 4ths EVER!  Good times, good food, good friends!  Hope yours was just as great!
